Anchored
firmly to its grounds but turned as much towards the sea, Normandy
benefits from the durable stereotypes which made its image: peaceful
meadows and groves, symbol of softness and art of living, tormented
path of the Seine, Etretat cliffs, and... the rain...., which was
worth a false reputation to this wonderful region.
From the estuary of the Seine to that of the Somme, on 140 kilometers,
stretches the most beautiful whole of high cliffs in France. Wet
and soft, oceanic in a word, the climate of High-Normandy is also
very changing. The Norman skies, among most varied in France, inspired
generations of open air painters.
